Microgreens are tender, young greens harvested just after the first true leaves appear — usually 7 to 14 days after sowing. They look delicate, but they are packed with flavor and fresh-plant nutrition, which is why they have quietly become a staple of modern healthy eating.

What exactly are microgreens?

Microgreens sit between sprouts and baby greens. They are grown in clean soil or coco peat, harvested with scissors above the root, and eaten fresh.

At Grevia, every tray is grown by hand at our Mumbai urban farm and cut to order so the greens reach your kitchen at their freshest.

Why are microgreens so popular right now?

Modern eaters want food that is fresh, clean, and effortless. Microgreens deliver concentrated flavor and color in a small, easy-to-use form — perfect for busy homes, cafés, and wellness-focused kitchens.

  • Bright, garden-fresh flavor that lifts everyday meals
  • Easy to use — no chopping, no waste, no prep
  • Add a chef-style finish to salads, toasts, bowls, and smoothies
  • Locally grown, so they travel from farm to plate in hours, not days

Common ways people use microgreens

Microgreens are incredibly versatile. A small handful transforms the look, taste, and nutrition of a dish.

  • On salads and grain bowls
  • Inside sandwiches, wraps, and parathas
  • Blended into smoothies and cold-pressed juices
  • As a garnish for soups, pasta, eggs, and Indian dishes like poha and dal
  • On chef plates in cafés and restaurants for color and texture

How Grevia grows microgreens

We grow our microgreens in small, controlled batches using clean water and food-safe media. No pesticides, no shortcuts. Each variety is hand-harvested the morning it is delivered, so you taste the greens at their peak.

Frequently asked questions

Are microgreens the same as sprouts?+

No. Sprouts are germinated seeds eaten whole with the root. Microgreens are grown in soil for 7–14 days and harvested above the root, giving them a fuller flavor and a true-leaf shape.

How long do microgreens stay fresh?+

Stored in their original Grevia pack inside the fridge, most microgreens stay crisp for 5–7 days after delivery.

Can I use microgreens in Indian cooking?+

Yes. They work beautifully on poha, dal, chaats, sandwiches, parathas, and rice bowls — added at the end so the heat does not wilt them.
